Nickie has always been interested in nutrition and how diet and disease are inter-related; she completed her undergraduate work at Northern Illinois University before completing her internship and Master's program at Rush University Medical Center . Nickie recently became a certified nutrition support clinician and also specializes in enteral and parenteral nutrition support.

Nickie works full time at Loyola University Medical Center as an inpatient dietitian working with surgical and liver transplant patients. Nickie counsels patients on appropriate diet modifications based on individual needs. She feels nutrition education must be individualized so patients can successfully make the necessary dietary and lifestyle changes.
